My name is Lynaé DePriest, my pronouns are they/them, and I am a black, queer and non-binary artist.  Ok, so I know this is a bio and I'm supposed to speak about myself as if I'm not...myself.  Well, I figured my bio should sound like me and not me trying to discuss me.  I'd much rather my bio be open and weird, because that's who I am! Are you ready?

First thing's first, you've probably figured out by now that I'm an actor based in NYC.  I received my B.A. in Theatre and Performance Studies from the University of California, Berkeley.  Go Bears! Yes, that means I am an activist and a free-spirited artist.

I am also a comedian.  Since I know people's minds always jump to standup and then draw a blank on what else falls under the comedy umbrella, my comedy dish is served with improv, characters, sketch comedy and a side of standup.  I also host events and have been the mainstage host for FlameCon 2017 thru 2019.

When I'm not making adults laugh, I am an actor and teaching artist for Story Pirates.  One of my biggest passions is teaching kids and inspiring them to be their amazing, creative and inquisitive selves.

Last, but certainly not least, I am a poet and storyteller under the name Thoughtress.  Feel free to check out my poetry at http://www.thoughtresspoetry.com.

When I'm not performing, I am speaking on panels to raise awareness about eating disorders, volunteering as a rape crisis and intimate partner violence advocate and raising my Black, trans non-binary activist voice.  My greatest assets are my art and my voice, and I utilize both fearlessly to make my mark on this world.
